R. Stephens Leatherwood Honey
In 1914, Robert Stephens started keeping Bees, a few hives at Mole Creek, when he joined the 12th Battalion, World War I.
Returning in 1919 he purchased two acres of land at Mole Creek for the apiary and factory. In 1923, 50 hives of Bees were moved by horse and cart to a nearby locality.
In 1929-1930 he worked 450 hives, using an A Model Ford truck. His son Ian became the current manager in 1966. Together with his 3 sons, Ewan, Neal & Ken, the Apiary has grown rapidly, a family operated business based at picturesque Mole Creek, Tasmania, Australia. They produce and pack a large percentage of Tasmanian Honey.
The family, now in its third generation has been producing honey for over 75 years, presently working 2,500 hives, which migrate from Northern Tasmanian to World Heritage wilderness area of the West Coast, from which the Golden Nectar Real Leatherwood Honey is produced now certified Organic for the Australian & USA Markets.
